  We put an offer in on a home being represented by an Irongate realtor. We then negotiated back and forth between our realtor and the Irongate realtor until we reached a verbal agreement and were ready to buy. Our realtor told her he'd get the final contract signed and sent over. She then called back a few minutes later and said that they had another offer and if we wanted it then both parties (the other potential buyers and us) should submit our best offers and we will see which one her seller wanted to accept. My realtor explained to her that we were already in a verbal agreement and ready to buy. She stated that this is the way it was going to be. So we relented and submitted a slightly higher offer. She text our realtor later and said, "we went with the other offer. Hope there's no hard feelings." I understand that we didn't have it in writing yet but from other realtors I've spoken with, the realtor code of ethics is once you reach an agreement, whether verbal or written, you stick to it. This home was exactly what we were looking for and we were extremely disappointed to lose it, especially this way. Shame on your company representative for not sticking to her word.
